MaryMary’s Room Non-Profit Organization is a young, vital and growing company. Founded by Cassandra Christopher-Summers, the company specializes in interior decorating; working closely with Breast Cancer Patients, as well as Breast Cancer Survivors

The concept behind Mary’s Room came about when a very special person in my life, my cousin Mary Ann Taylor, was battling breast cancer. Mary never complained about her condition and found strength in her love for God, her family and friends. However, her illness at times prevented her from tending to the upkeep of her bedroom. Therefore, when she wanted her room cleaned or rearranged, she contacted my cousin Jackie and I to carry out her wishes. After each transformation, it was evident that it brought her great joy. As she entered the room with a jovial smile on her face, it appeared as if she was walking into a new outlook on life and new beginnings. With a grateful heart, she would always say “Thank you cousins!”

On January 15, 2008, Mary passed away. After her passing, I decided to use my passion for decorating to encourage other breast cancer patients. In pursuit of this dream, Mary’s Room was established with the help of my family and the Naperville Library in December 2008.
